Collaboration will result in the development of solutions innovative, including artificial intelligence, for devices smart

A national reference in telemedicine and telehealth, Santa Catarina-based TopMed has taken another important initiative to promote the transformation of the Brazilian digital health sector. The company has partnered with the giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop projects on three main fronts: the use of artificial intelligence, the analysis of population health data, and the integration of health services with the virtual assistant Alexa and other smart devices.

The first stage of the work was made official on Tuesday night, during the panel “Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Business”, which took place at Faial Prime Suites, in Florianópolis, with the presence of 150 guests, including authorities and business leaders from the country.

The event was promoted by the business group LIDE SC and featured presentations by Ronaldo Oliveira, Head of Channels for the Healthcare Area at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and responsible for the brand's business partners in Brazil; Matheus Vill, CTO of Neoway; and Maycon Marcos, president of SBHUB – Startup Accelerator.
mediation was by Lucas Miguel Gnigler, partner at 8R Negócios.

The Secretary of State for Health, Carmen Zanotto, was among the guests and highlighted that the application of innovative tools in digital health is essential to shorten distances, reduce waiting times for care and improve diagnoses.

“This partnership will bring significant progress to innovation in Brazilian digital healthcare. We are working to revolutionize the sector in an ethical and responsible manner, combining scientific and technological knowledge to better benefit people. The combination of the expertise of both brands will enable the creation of more healthcare services that will be increasingly accessible, efficient and personalized,” notes Paulo Salvi, Chief Technology Officer at TopMed.

“We are consolidating this partnership to enable greater access to healthcare, including improving the collection and management of information. In telemedicine services, there is a huge range of data collected by the systems. The technologies we will develop will allow healthcare professionals to better analyze patients’ lives, identify possible diseases and improve care and treatment protocols,” explains AWS executive Ronaldo Oliveira.

“The pandemic left a significant legacy, which was the expansion of connectivity between people. This accelerated advancement of telehealth has brought benefits, but we know that there is still much to be done. Therefore, we are proud to announce this partnership that will positively impact the digital health sector in Brazil. The union between
brands is an exciting story that we will write together. This collaboration will enhance access and quality of healthcare services. We are excited about the potential and benefits we will bring to the sector, but especially to people,” says Valda Stange, CEO of TopMed.

When the technology developed by the two companies is implemented on the Alexa device, users will be able to interact through voice commands, obtaining accurate and reliable guidance on their health conditions, with symptom screening and medical referrals.

“This partnership will make Santa Catarina stand out on the Brazilian scene as a fundamental vector for health and well-being. We are already a leader in tourism, technology and agribusiness, and now we have the opportunity to bring assertive technologies to the country that will improve the quality of life of many Brazilians,” he emphasizes.

Paulo Salvi also emphasizes that the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud computing platform dedicated to innovation in the healthcare sector, is essential for this collaboration. AWS is recognized for its reliable and scalable infrastructure, in addition to the wide range of services that use Artificial Intelligence to perform data analysis, enabling complex assessments and the extraction of essential information for population health actions.
