Partnership with Lina Saúde will allow continuous cross-referencing of information on the body and mind; the aim is to provide multidisciplinary care for those with chronic conditions

Conexa, a leading digital ecosystem for comprehensive healthcare in Latin America, and Lina Saúde, a population data management platform, will expand their partnership, signed in 2022, at the beginning of the next quarter. The goal is also to collect anonymous information on clients' mental health to understand the population's clinical condition, cross-reference it with the physical condition and provide individualized monitoring of chronic patients.

The coordinated care plan to be drawn up is based on age group, gender, region where the group lives, risk exposure, pre-existing conditions, among several other details relevant to each disease. Successful forms of treatment and diagnoses related to patients who have, for example, diabetes, hypertension and obesity are taken into consideration for decision-making.

The impact of mental health on physical illness is also analyzed. “We know that mental illness can have a direct impact on physical health and vice versa,” said Gabriel Garcez, medical director at Conexa. “Both mind and body need to be treated at the same time so that people can get the best possible results from medical and psychological care,” he added. The startup currently has around 4,200 psychologists, 800 doctors and around 50 nutritionists.

Conexa's Health Analytics system has access to technical information from more than 600,000 patients anonymously.

With the expansion of the partnership with Lina Saúde, Conexa will also receive information about the mental health of population groups, which will make it possible to cross-reference data simultaneously with physical health so that treatment can occur in an integrated manner.

Health Analytics uses a variety of data sources, such as medical records, outpatient care and medications taken by patients.

Cost reduction

The partnership with Lina Saúde allows Conexa to identify cost reductions for clients. For example, the startup detected a decrease in emergency room visits for a group of 600 telepsychology patients.

“Before these people received mental health care, companies had higher costs because there were more visits to the hospital emergency room to check for anxiety attacks,” Garcez said.
