Caio Soares, president of SDB, states that the event is the reference for the Brazilian Digital Health ecosystem
THE Global Summit Telemedicine & Digital Health APM has partnered with Saúde Digital Brasil (SDB) – the entity representing Telehealth service providers in Brazil – for the 5th edition of the event, which will be held by Paulista Medical Association (APM) between November 20th and 22nd, at the Frei Caneca Convention Center, in São Paulo.
With this partnership, GS APM 2023 becomes the flagship event for SDB.
“The Global Summit APM was a watershed moment in the presence of Telemedicine within the Brazilian healthcare system when it emerged in 2019. It is almost as if it were the 'Fall of the Bastille of Telemedicine', because it clearly signified and marked the entire sector and also brought visibility, which did not exist before, to this market and the possibility for those working in this area to have participation and a voice in the healthcare ecosystem”, highlights the president of the SDB Board of Directors, Caio Sores – emphasizing that, for the entity, being close to the GS APM is the best choice, as it is very enriching, due to its content, and validating, as a positioning.
“The entity represents around 90% of the companies that produce Telehealth today in the country. I believe that it is an association that greatly strengthens both sides”, guarantees Soares.
This partnership will also bring benefits to companies associated with SDB. Starting this edition of the event, they will benefit from a special discount to participate as sponsors of the Global Summit APM.
For the president of the entity, being at GS APM 2023 is important because the Telemedicine and Digital Health market has undergone a brutal evolution in the last three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, the time has come to look at this result and the next five, ten years to glimpse what the scenario will be like and the new solutions that will emerge.
“There are many technologies that are emerging. I think we are moving from version 1.0 to 2.0 of Telemedicine in Brazil, and the most suitable environment to meet people, learn about new solutions and discuss content is the Global Summit APM”, says Soares.
Market
After the Covid-19 pandemic phase, the Digital Health and Telemedicine market in Brazil is moving, in Soares' view, from a containment model, used during the health crisis, to one of care coordination.
“When the healthcare system actually incorporates these solutions in an intelligent, appropriate and effective way, Telemedicine and Telehealth will be able to collaborate to have healthier patients and more positive outcomes, with a huge cost reduction”, points out the president of SDB.
For him, a natural evolution is also taking place, as many Digital Health companies have emerged in recent years, when there has been an exponential growth of these services, but only organizations that seek serious and efficient solutions should participate in phase 2.0 of Telemedicine in Brazil, as new technologies emerge every day.
The technological possibilities are endless, and there is evidence that many of them will be present in everyone's lives in a short time. Soares says that we may still be one step behind in the issue of big data and generative artificial intelligence, which are based on large databases of information.
“We learn how to deal with this large database of information. Qualifying it is the first step to having these solutions running in the population’s daily lives. The second step is to generate awareness of the responsibility in using these tools, which is a determining factor for our progress,” he explains.
Emphasis
On November 21, the SDB will have a program on one of the stages of the Global Summit APM. Caio Soares reveals that he intends to promote a discussion on best practices, including patient care, interoperability, regulation, dispensing and electronic prescribing.
It also plans to present and discuss a sectoral indicator panel that the entity is preparing and wants to launch at GS APM 2023.
“It will be a panel with all the information on production, teleconsultations, duration of a teleconsultation, how many certificates are issued, whether the person using this technology is the holder or the dependent, whether it is the adult or the child. In short, all the sectoral information, because today we have a lack of data. We really want to map out how Telehealth and Telemedicine are doing. This is very important for the country's health system,” says the president of SDB.
Soares concludes by declaring the importance of the Global Summit APM for the Digital Health ecosystem in Brazil.
“The event is basically the reference for this ecosystem. It is where professionals go to share content, learn, observe good practices in the sector and, fundamentally, to design the future of their actions, because the great thinkers, news and innovations are at the Global APM Summit.”
