The initiative aims to fill an important gap in the training market for working in digital health. The course is aimed at all types of professionals interested in working in the sector, whether clinical or management.
Education is a central pillar for improving and expanding the provision of telehealth services. This includes training healthcare professionals to make good use of technology, sharing knowledge among teams, and a broader understanding of how this market works in the country. Given this scenario and aiming to fill an important gap in the lack of specific training in digital health, Saúde Digital Brasil (SDB) is launching, with the support of Galen Academy, the first course on best practices in telemedicine and telehealth in Latin America.
“We are witnessing a dramatic shift in healthcare, where digital technology is not only becoming more prevalent, but is also driving the digitalization of services that were previously delivered in person. This transition aims to improve patient journeys by making them fully integrated into both in-person and digital healthcare services. Investing in telehealth education is essential to empower professionals and ensure they are prepared for this transformation. We now have a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare by adapting to this evolution and ensuring more efficient and integrated service delivery,” highlights Michele Alves, executive manager of SDB and co-coordinator of the course.
According to her, there is a lack of training for professionals, especially because telehealth, although not a new modality, has gained relevance and made considerable advances during the pandemic. In addition, it has been the subject of regulation and public policies, highlighting the urgent need for training in this constantly evolving field.
“Training is a determining factor, becoming a competitive advantage for both professionals who master these best practices and for healthcare institutions, whether public or private. The presence of a highly qualified team familiar with all the specificities and advances in the sector not only guarantees excellent service, but also strengthens the position of organizations in the market, driving innovation and efficiency in the delivery of healthcare services,” adds Michele.
About the course on good practices in telehealth and telemedicine
In the Distance Learning (EaD) format, the course on good practices in telehealth and telemedicine focuses not only on health professionals who deal with technology to provide care in their specialties, but also managers of clinics, hospitals, laboratories, among others, as well as representatives from other areas who wish to understand this promising market.
The sector currently generates more than 172 billion dollars worldwide. By 2028, the total is estimated to reach US$290 billion. The data is from Mordor Intelligence, a company specializing in market research. Brazil is no exception in this scenario and should follow global trends. In 2022, for example, 331,000 doctors treated patients via teleconsultation, according to the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic).
In light of this scenario, the course curriculum covers crucial guidelines for practicing telehealth and telemedicine safely and supported by best practices. The goal is to help ensure that the journey is successful from start to finish, enabling not only quality care but also better clinical outcomes.
