Share:

The Brazilian Association of Telemedicine and Digital Health Companies brought together key leaders and authorities on four of the main pillars that guide the safe practice of this modality. The idea is to ensure that the journey is successful and safe from beginning to end.

As part of its commitment to improving the healthcare model and its concern to ensure that each patient and physician who uses telemedicine has a reference to guide their decisions, Saúde Digital Brasil has just launched the first Manual of Good Practices in Telemedicine and Telehealth.

“These guidelines are crucial for telemedicine to fulfill its role of guaranteeing the population’s access to medical care, wherever they are, with quality and safety.. As safe medical practice, as well as the increase in scientific and technological development of digital health and innovation in health, are part of our purposes as an entity, it is a privilege to be able to launch this unprecedented Manual of Good Practices in Telemedicine”, highlights Caio Soares, president of Saúde Digital Brasil.

Telemedicine has had an impact on society as a whole and has benefited patients, doctors, and the public and private healthcare systems without exception. Its safe practice, supported by best practices, is an efficient tool for expanding patients’ access to autonomy to decide how to care for their health. These guidelines help ensure that the journey is successful from start to finish, enabling not only quality care but also better clinical outcomes.

And the manual helps to respond to this challenge. Divided into four chapters, the content, prepared by the main leaders and authorities on the subject in Brazil, brings together technical knowledge and standardizes the main practices for the practice of telemedicine. Among the topics covered are: maintain a high level of quality and safety in healthcare provided using remote communication technologies; best information security practices; electronic prescription and digital dispensing records and interoperability.

Founded in 2020, the Brazilian Association of Telemedicine and Digital Health Companies was created to bring together entities that operate in the telemedicine service provision chain and that develop activities related to digital health. One of its main goals is to defend the banner of healthcare assistance through telemedicine and telehealth in Brazil and the creation of regulations that guarantee its continuity.
